About the Designer
Artist Statement
I have had a life-long fascination and love for stones and crystals. As a little girl I begged to be taken to the Blackhawk Gem and Mineral Show every fall. As a teenager taking Studio Art classes in high school, my primary focus was on jewelry making. As an adult, I became a goldsmith and jewelry designer, which allowed me to incorporate stones into pieces of wearable art. To this day, I am always on the look-out for stones that beg to have their unique qualities showcased in a piece of fine art jewelry.
By combining different metals and experimenting with various finishes and setting techniques, I find myself always reaching for new directions in my work. Lately my creations have taken a turn toward bigger and bolder looks. My work seems to have evolved from mere jewelry into miniature metal sculptures. I haven't abandoned the creation of smaller pieces, but when the muses are unleashed - a stone grabs me and demands to be embellished into something that makes a statement.

In addition to designing jewelry and creating one-of-a-kind pieces, I have also worked as a bench jeweler in the repair trade for many years, becoming certified in advanced stone setting through GIA in 1988. A bit of dilettante, I am also a licensed massage therapist, Reiki master/teacher, certified fitness instructor, and mom to two teenagers. Some say that I have too much energy. I think that I am just supremely blessed. What could be more fun than making something beautiful by getting really dirty? I'll never be a hand model, but I sure do have fun. I am grateful to the Universe for being able to make a living in ways that I find both personally and creatively satisfying - that also happen to bring beauty, healing, and fitness to the lives of others. Life really is good.
